Desert Tribal Mask
Desert Tribal Mask
TELL ALL THE TRUTH, BUT TELL IT SLANT
Truth almost never comes straight at you. It has a suspicious habit of appearing from the edge.
Here, it takes the form of a mask: wandering eyes, teeth far too visible, and an expression that seems on the verge of confessing something without ever quite doing so. Around it, the drawing retains a deliberate rawness, as if sincerity first had to distort itself in order to become bearable.
TELL ALL THE TRUTH, BUT TELL IT SLANT turns an idea by Emily Dickinson into a graphic attitude: speaking without giving everything away, showing without obeying, allowing meaning to arrive by another route.
Because some truths lose their force when they are overexplained.
The straight tells. The slant reveals.
Made on a Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0, a unisex medium-fit crew-neck T-shirt crafted from single jersey in 100% ring-spun combed organic cotton, with a fabric weight of 180 g/m².
